Emmela has a very small collection of Indigo cushions - all handcrafted in Mali using ancient dying processes. The time and patience to create these deep rich indigo hues is incredible and together with a contemporary take on traditional designs, makes for the most stunning cushion. Finished with a complimentary linen back and gold zip. 

The fabric will have slight variations in colour and texture due to it being handmade and no two cushions will be 100% the same. We believe the beauty of it is in these slight imperfections which gives an organic feel to the design. This is truly a small batch production with very limited availability.

About the fabric

Indigo Bògòlanfini (Bogolan/ Mud cloth) is a handmade Malian cotton dyed using pigment from the Indigo plant. The process is long and complex involving hand weaving long strips of cotton on looms. Fabric is handcrafted in Segou, Mali and the cushions are designed and made by Tisserand Dakar. Indigo Bogolan cloth is 100% cotton and 100% linen at the back. 

Product care

Spot clean only. If necessary use chemical free soap, wash in cold water and dry flat. Add a small amount of vinegar to the water to “hold” the dye.
